RSL try to extend unbeaten run in tilt with Crew Fri Jul 29 16:26:53 2011 EST
Sandy, UT (Sports Network) - Together, Real Salt Lake and the Columbus Crew have combined to two of the last three MLS Cups and two of the last three Supporters' Shields. Both teams are having quite impressive seasons so far in 2011 as well. Columbus has quietly risen to the top of the Eastern Conference, tied on 31 points with the Philadelphia Union. The Crew are 4-2-1 in their past seven regular season matches. Real Salt Lake enter Saturday's match against the Crew in fourth place in the West
Timbers fall at Columbus on Danso's own goal Sat Jul 23 22:17:51 2011 EST
Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Portland's Mamadou Danso scored the lone goal in Saturday's match with the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium. The only problem was that the goal was an own goal, allowing the Crew to walk away with a 1-0 win on the 79th-minute tally and giving the hosts their second victory in five games. Portland was the better side in the first 45 minutes with Jack Jewsbury creating a good chance outside the penalty area with a shot that flew just over Andy Gruenebaum's goal. Darli

Pore, 27, signed with Portland late in 2010 and played eight games, including two starts, for the club this season. He spent the previous two seasons with the Timbers, scoring 25 goals, before they joined MLS this season. Portland visits the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.
Galaxy extend unbeaten streak with win over Crew Thu Jul 21 00:41:25 2011 EST
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Galaxy narrowly defeated the Columbus Crew 1-0 Wednesday night at The Home Depot Center in what was a rather dull affair. If Los Angeles looked to be lacking some sharpness in front of goal, it is probably down to its recent saturated fixture list. The Galaxy are coming off of a friendly match against Real Madrid, which they lost to the Copa del Rey champions 4-1, and are set to face free-spending English giants Manchester City on Sunday. It is a co

match of the season to Real Salt Lake, but have just one loss in nine games since. But with five of those games ending in draws, San Jose needs to start earning the full three points. San Jose also settled for a draw in its last match, at the Columbus Crew, and defender Chris Leitch admitted "it would have been nice to have grabbed three points on the road" after the 0-0 draw. Leitch was still happy to escape with a point from Crew Stadium, as he felt it was not "our best" effort. "Sometimes wh
Galaxy host Crew, aim to extend unbeaten run Tue Jul 19 16:23:40 2011 EST
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - With the Columbus Crew and the Los Angeles Galaxy both in good form at the moment, their tilt at The Home Depot Center on Wednesday should be much more even than anticipated. The Galaxy have not lost a Major League Soccer match since May 1st when they fell to FC Dallas 2-1 at Pizza Hut Park. Since then, they have gone 6-0-6 in regular season play, bringing them to the top of the Western Conference standings. Los Angeles lost to Spanish giants Real Madrid 4-1 in a f

Crew, 'Quakes play to scoreless draw Sat Jul 16 21:58:07 2011 EST
Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - On a night that the Columbus Crew honored one of its greatest players ever, it certainly could have benefited from his predatory instincts in front of goal, as Columbus and the San Jose Earthquakes battled to a 0-0 draw. The Crew held a special ceremony before kickoff to honor former striker Brian McBride, but no Columbus player was able to commemorate the occasion with a goal. In a tame first half, the best chance came in the opening minute for San Jose's Khari
