Miller, whose brother Ryan is a goaltender with Buffalo, began last season with the Tampa Bay Lightning but was claimed off waivers by Detroit in early November. In 80 combined games with the Bolts and Wings, he posted 10 goals and 19 points.

The 26-year-old New Jersey native has collected 16 goals and 34 points over parts of three seasons with Tampa Bay, Anaheim and Detroit. He played three seasons with Michigan State before being selected by the Ducks in the sixth round of the 2003 NHL draft.
